There are a lot of ways to decorate for a baby shower, but there is one way that will wow guests and have them asking you where you got the idea from: a diaper cake! A diaper cake is not only a decoration, but a very practical gift that is incredibly cute. Here’s how to make your own!
What You’ll Need:
- Box of about 70 newborn diapers
- Tape
- Medium/Large Rubber Bands
- Flowers with Clips, Ribbon, or anything you’d like to decorate your cake with
Steps:
-
-
- Begin rolling up your diapers, starting on the backside, getting a tight hold and securing with tape.
- Once you have rolled up the first seven, place a rubber band around them and shape them into a circle. As you get more diapers rolled up, add them to it. I made my top tier with 14 diapers.

- For your middle tier, repeat the process of gathering about seven and then adding more diapers to it. My middle tier had 24 diapers.
- For your final and largest tier, you should have about 32 diapers.

- Stack each of the tiers on top of each other into a shape of a three tier cake.

- Next, if you’d like fabric or ribbon to cover the rubber band, add it to each tier individually. I used burlap with ribbon across the middle for mine.
- Finally, add any other decorations to your cake, and you’re done!

I made my diaper cake for a baby shower that I co-hosted. It made the gift table look really cute! Then, after the shower, I gave it as a gift to the mother-to-be. She loved it!
