How to Make Flower Pom Poms

A friend of mine had gotten engaged, so I told her I wanted to throw a Bridal Shower for her. She planned to have a country chic wedding theme, with sunflowers and burlap, and it inspired me to decorate for her shower with the same theme. I looked for ideas of things to incorporate into the party decor, and came across pom poms, it was perfect. Once I found out what I needed, I created my own version of it.

For the next event that you celebrate that you want to add a cute, original touch to, here is the DIY blog for how to create your very own pom poms.

What you’ll Need:

  • Flowers of choice with short stem
  • About a yard of string such as Jute or Hemp
  • Wood skewer
  • Monkey glue
  • 3 Foam balls in different sizes
  • Thick bead to secure string

Steps:

  1. Poke a hole through the middle of a foam ball with a wood skewer and pull the string through, tying the end. You can use a thick bead to secure the string from falling out.
  2.

  3. Cut the extra stem from the flowers and leave only about an inch from the end to the base of the flower.
  4.

  5. Apply glue to the end of the flower and push into the foam ball. Hold for about 20 seconds.

Tip: To avoid getting glue on hands, wear a thick glove. Be careful and try not to get the monkey glue on your hands because it is very difficult to get off, and leaves a rough feeling to your hands.

  6. Continue to add flowers all around until the foam ball isn’t exposed.
  7.

  8. Allow to dry and you are finished!
