Twenty-four hours, 1,440 minutes and 86,400 seconds.
Every person has the same exact amount of time. Bill Gates, Henry Ford, or even Oprah didn’t have an extra hour in their day to contribute to their success.
As I look outside my city view window, I watch as cars drive by and people walk the streets below. We are all so different, yet so much alike. We all want to get somewhere. We all have a dream. We all want to succeed. But what will we do to reach the goals that we have for ourselves? How will we manage our time in order to get where we want to be?
Each day you make thousands of decisions. Everything from what you are going to wear to whether or not you are going to eat out for dinner tonight. You make every single one of those decisions. You are in control of your own life. Things may affect your decisions but you are the deciding factor in the final outcome.
Year after year, I would write my New Years Resolutions and always have, “Workout 3 days a week at the top of my list.” The year would begin and I start working out but then stopped going after the first few months. One year, my husband began to workout with a few co-workers so I went to the gym when he did and started working out again. A month went by or so and I began to not want to go. I wanted more time to relax after work. I didn’t want to work after work. It was time to chill. But we kept going, and before I knew it, it was routine. It became something I loved to do. I loved how I felt. I loved how I looked. I knew it was something I could have done all along but I put it off because I always made excuses. Until one day I decided to go after a goal, even though I didn’t feel like it and it changed me.
Consistency is key. You really can do it. You have to believe in yourself, even when you feel like no one else does. What decisions do you have to make to get you where you need to be? What are you waiting for? If you wait for the perfect timing, you will never do what you planned. There is never a perfect time. You will have something else planned for that day. Other people will ask you do something and you’ll have to cancel your plans. What can happen, probably will. You will not find a perfect time. The best time is now. Now is the time you should begin. Now is the time you should confidently live the life you have always imagined. It doesn’t matter what other people say. You can do anything you set your mind to.
Are you going to finally make today the day you go to the gym and start a consistent routine to better your health? Will you make the decision today to put the application in for the job you have been dreaming of and put aside the fear of not getting hired? Or will you make today the day you start to like the person in the mirror and accept yourself for who you are?
What will you do today to get you where you need to be?
It’s up to you. What are you waiting for?
