We Are Better Together

Have you ever felt alone in a crowd of people? Do you remember the last time you felt left out from everyone else?

It hurts. It can make you pull away from everything. It can leave you feeling empty. You try to understand why those around you don’t care. Why they ignore you like you’re not even there. You get so frustrated you almost feel angry. Thoughts fill your mind, leaving you feeling overwhelmed.

Standing alone was never God’s idea.

We need each other. We need to love and be loved. We need to show that we care. You never know what someone is going through. You never know just how lonely someone might be. It’s easy to smile and cover up the feelings inside. We have to reach out to others, and they will open up and let us in.

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:23-25 NLT

We need to make an effort to build relationships in our lives. The people that aren’t close to us, need just as much love and support as those that are. We need to look outside our “circles” and get to know other people. To not get so comfortable surrounding ourselves with the same people every day, but to look for someone to reach out to. Someone might just need to see your smile today to lift their spirits and make them feel like someone else cares.

“The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25 NLT

Of course you’re busy. We are all busy. Our society is full of distractions. But don’t be so distracted that you miss out on an opportunity to make a difference. What if God wants to use YOU to show someone his love? We need to find those around us that need love and show them that they are loved. We need to be a friend to someone that needs one. We need to look for opportunities to make a difference in someone’s life.

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NLT

If we realize the strength we have together, it would change us. Together, we are stronger. Together we can do great things. We can think bigger, accomplish more, and be twice as effective. Together, we have the strength to believe that we can do what we thought we couldn’t. Together, we are better.
