What you’ll Need:
Choose a wax
- Soy: Eco friendly, renewable, burns slower than other waxes
- Paraffin: Most popular wax for candles, but can emit chemicals when wax is melted
- Beeswax: All natural and has air purifying qualities. It doesn’t retain scent or coloring that well. You can add essential oils, but beeswax has it’s own scent.
Other supplies:
- Wicks
- Skewer sticks
- Large pot
- Container for candle (ceramic, glass, etc.)
- Glass mason jar, or other container that can withstand heat
Steps:
-
- In a large pot, put a small amount of water (¼ of the way full) and turn heat on lowest setting.
- Fill a mason jar with your preferred wax and set in pot.
- As wax slowly melts, stir with skewer stick.
- Once wax is melted, remove mason jar with an oven mitt and pour into your container of choice. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Put wick in the center of the container and use two skewer sticks to hold upright. Let stand for at least an hour to allow wax to solidify, but it can take several hours for the wax to fully dry.

Enjoy your candle!
